Many thanks to Stage One Creative Services of Marston Business Park who have donated 50 polycarbonate sheets to the nursery. These will be used in the new hardening off area currently being built at the Railway Nursery.
The Nursery has been awarded the Duke of York’s Community Initiative. This is a Royal Award presented to community projects based in Yorkshire. The schemes need to be owned, developed and led by the people they serve. The schemes should be of real value to the community, well run and an inspiration to others.The Award lasts for five years, after which reapplication can be made.
The 2019 Sales Dates are now available on the Plant Sales page. As well as the normal sales there are dates celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Poppleton Community Railway Nursery on 30 March and the return of the St Crux sale on 22 May.

The Nursery took part in the Bloom! Festival celebrating 250 years of the Ancient Society of York Florists. The Nursery was open for three days and a narrow gauge railway truck decorated with plants was displayed on York Railway Station. During the festival, the nursery celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the opening of the Nursery's narrow gauge railway with a railway evening featuring its own motive power and two locomotives and a brake van from the Ripon & District Light Railway.
The June 2018 issue of Heritage Railway magazine contains a short article about the Poppleton Nursery Railway. Written by Stuart Chapman, the article gives a short history of the site and mentions the July Open Evening.
